September marks Suicide Awareness Month (plus Suicide Prevention Week, Sept. 6-12, and Suicide Prevention Day on Sept. 10).

The statistics are alarming:

  • 10% of young adults say they experienced suicidal thoughts in the past year
  • 17% of high school students say they seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year
  • The overall suicide rate in the U.S. has increased by 31% since 2001

We can take actions to prevent suicide. Check out our guide to suicide prevention, which includes warning signs, risk factors, and advice for support in a crisis.

Have you been impacted by suicide? When we share our insights and stories, we can help others feel less alone, end stigma, and inspire others to get the help they need.
