NAMI California’s three-part Cultural and Linguistic Competence Online Curriculum was created with support from the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) to enhance NAMI affiliate and community partners’ capacity to better serve and meaningfully engage diverse racial/ethnic communities. Diversity encompasses understanding, respecting, embracing, preserving, and celebrating experiences and perspectives that are different from our own. Through this interactive webinar participants will cover and discuss a variety of topics and case scenarios that entail cultural self-awareness, awareness of other cultural contexts, an understanding of different dynamics, development of cultural knowledge, and the ability to adapt and practice skills to fit other cultural contexts.

Cultural Competence Webinar Schedule

In Year 2, NAMI CA has partnered with the UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities to conduct our Cultural Competence Webinar Series. NAMI CA will take the lead in creating all webinar registration links, surveys, evaluations and polling questions. UC Davis will take the lead utilizing trained facilitators and presenters with expert content knowledge around Cultural Competence and engaging diverse populations in a meaningful manner.

This 9-hour series is open to all, and certification is available only upon completion of all three webinars.
