Community Events
NAMI California hosts events throughout the year to bring together community members and other local leaders working to improve mental health care and services in California. We also aim to reduce stigma among underserved communities and to increase reach into multicultural populations.
Find out MoreThe Family/Peer Support Specialist (FPSS) Webinar Training Program
The Family/Peer Support Specialist (FPSS) Webinar Training program is devoted to providing individuals who have lived experience with a mental health condition (as a peer, family member, or sometimes both) a pathway to employment/volunteer work within the behavioral health field.
Participants learn behavioral health skills during 17 interactive sessions taught by Peer and Family Support Specialists. Topics covered: the recovery model, communication skills, trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and more. Those who complete the training receive a certificate and are paired with a NAMI FPSS Coordinator who provides one-on-one career counseling and support towards placement as a Family/Peer Support Specialist.
If you would like to learn more about the training program and/or have opportunities available for graduates from the program, please contact us by emailing ragini@namica.org
