Advocacy Day

NAMI California held 2026 Annual Advocacy Day on April 21, gathering family members, students, affiliates, and advocates at the Capitol to learn about priority legislation, connect with other advocates, and ensure NAMI’s voice remains strong at the Capitol.
Attendees were also able to meet with legislators to share their story and advocate for mental health. While the stormy Sacramento weather limited our typical outdoor rally, we were inspired to see so many attendees show up and make their voices heard.
From powerful remarks by NAMI California CEO Jessica Wilson and youth mental health advocate Ella Cruz, to insights from Dr. Nicole Steller, Director of Behavioral Health, Clinical Strategy and Programs at Blue Shield of California, Sarah Summer, Vice President of Behavioral Health Services at Blue Shield of California, and Sacramento City Councilmember Eric Guerra, the message was clear: we must keep pushing for policies that support individuals living with mental illness, and the families who stand alongside them.
Thank you to all those who were able to join. We’re looking forward to hosting our 2027 Advocacy Day next Spring!
